We'll be taking the new Sound Transit light rail to the airport. Oh what FUN it is to ride! (Hopefully)

Rachel and I have decided to start our adventure with a light rail train ride from Lynnwood to SeaTac airport... because only $3, and FUN!  

As a result of the luggage fiasco I had on the Mexico trip,* I purchased a set of suitcases with 4 wheels, they will be MUCH easier to maneuver.  :) 

* (For those who don't know) After the Mexico cruise, Princess cruise lines dropped us off at LAX early in the morning. However, we couldn't check our bags in until 2 pm, so I ended up having to drag my uncooperative 2-wheeled bags around while they repeatedly flipped on their sides, and tried desperately to trip and kill me. 

Note: It didn't help that we had to sit on the hard airport floor for about 6 hours. (LAX has no seating areas prior to getting through the TSA check-in areas - UGH!)  

So I said Goodbye to my red suitcases, and Hello beautiful to a set of purple 4-wheeled bags. SO MUCH BETTER!

Yes, this was probably too much luggage for the cruise... but then again, look at all the clothes Ginger packed for her 3-hour cruise... You never know what you might want to wear on shore days, so it is good to be prepared.

After the ice cave we went across to Diamond beach. This is Rachel posing on an iceberg. This is Rachel looking at the incoming wave and telling me it's OK because he boots are waterproof.  this Rachel realizing her boots aren't as waterproof as she thought.  This is Rachel with wet feet. For lunch we stopped at the Viking Cafe. Rachel wore flip flops that were in the car from the blue lagoon spa night while I was in snow pants... quite the pair.😛 (see Day 2- part 3) to continuing our road trip.

Road trip day 1(part 1) horses

Monday 10/21/24 Day 1 of the road trip  Our road trip started out with a 2 hour ride on Icelandic horses. My horse was named Amore (love) and Rachel's was named Sooty. We were a bit concerned since the weather forcast called for rain, but other than a bit of drizzle the rain held off for our plus we wore waterproof clothing. After the ride we were treated to a cup of delicious icelandic hot chocolate.  We rode through a beautiful area with old lava flows. After the horses we hit the road and stopped for lunch a few hours later at Tommi's in Selfoss.  The food was good and they had "guest-book graffiti walls" so of course we added to it. Day 2 of the Road Trip (part 1)

Day 2 road trip Last night we stayed at hotel Muli. It was dark when we arrived so we had no idea what an amazing view we would have in the morning. After breakfast at the hotel we headed over to the parking lot where we were meeting our guide for the Ice Cave Tour. While we waited we were able to see the Icebergs that create the diamonds on Diamond Beach, and watch some seals playing in the water. Our ice cave tour involved a ride across rough roads in Snorri's big Ford SuperDuty, and then about a 20 minute hike across a moon-scape of large rocks and uneven terrain to the glacier (and back).  Once we were inside the cave it was really cool, but I definitely got a workout today.
